Backup before upgrade to XP?
I ran both the EXPRESS install from Microsoft's web site and the download install. Process continues seemingly through the entire process and then says it cannot complete the install and ask if I wanted to uninstall. Of course, I accept to uninstall. I was successfully able to install Win95 without any problem. But again upgrading to Win98 led to some crashes of the same sort. But finally after I get login screen the windows will freeze after a few minutes & I will have to restart. Iam using OEM Win98 complete install. If any can help me out it would be great.

I cannot remember any. The problem probably is that DVD is a fairly well defined standard, so if your hardware does not follow that standard, it sounds like maybe you're trying to put the Debian installer image on the disk as a single file on a new data disc, rather than burning the .iso as a complete image.

Yes, I did fresh install 6.3R on a clean system. If this symbolic link is still required, 6.4R base system (or X11 ports?) should have this symbolic link, I think. It should happen automatically when the xorg metaport is installed (this is the best way to ensure you have a complete xorg installation).

I have tried putting the pre-downloaded files into what appear to be the right place in the /Library/Updates/ folder but usually get a "cannot unpack this package properly" error message. Leoprad. When the install is complete, I eject the mounted disk image and delete the .dmg file (apart from my master copy).
